Champlain College recently joined Internet 2 and connected to the Internet2 network through Vermont’s local anchor, UVM. This benefits Champlain College in several ways:
- First and foremost, connecting to Internet2 gives us access to a much more capable network with fewer users, lower latency, and more bandwidth available to the application.
- It also provides faster access to services we use that are also on Internet2 such as Canvas and Google (coming soon).
- Membership in Internet2 also gives us access to discounts and information that help us support our educational mission as well as better manage our campus network.
Best of all, to use Internet2, you don’t need to do anything special. Our systems will automatically route traffic to Internet2, as appropriate.
